Our Mission
Protect Hollybush is a community campaign working to protect Hollybush Woodland in Paisley, Scotland.
We believe there is still an opportunity to find a practical solution that protects part of this irreplaceable ancient woodland while allowing around 97% of the approved Abercrombie Park development to go ahead.
Supported by independent ecological advice, we're encouraging developers, decision-makers and the community to work together to find a solution that benefits both people and nature.
Our Proposal
A practical compromise
Independent ecological advice suggests that redesigning around just 3% of the approved development could protect part of Hollybush Woodland while still allowing approximately 97% of the planned homes to be built.
We're asking one simple question:
Isn't that a conversation worth having?
Protecting an irreplaceable habitat
Hollybush Woodland contains ancient riparian woodland and around 20 veteran trees, including at least 12 recorded on the Woodland Trust's Ancient Tree Inventory.
These remarkable habitats support countless species. Once ancient woodland is lost, it cannot simply be recreated.
Working together
Our campaign is built on collaboration.
We're encouraging developers, ecologists, planners, conservation organisations and the local community to work together to find a solution that balances the need for new homes with the protection of one of Paisley's most valuable natural habitats.
